Biography
Roberto Gobbo was born in Treviso (Italy) and graduated in architecture at IUAV in Venice.
At the beginning of his career he took part in several art exhibitions. In 1980 he won the “Assemblaggio 80” award in Spoleto and in 1982 he was invited to the “Autoritrattazioni” art show at Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice.
From 1979 to 1983 he directed a series of television documentaries on art and architecture broadcasted by RAI and presented at the 10th and 11th International Festival of Films on Art and Artists Biographies in Asolo, respectively in 1982 and 1983.
In 1983, he opened his own studio operating in the field of both architecture and design.
He signed the project of the art exhibition "The Five" at Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista, Venice, in 1987 and in 1989 the "Lino Bianchi Barriviera" exhibition in Montebelluna.
He started a collaboration with Euromobil and Zalf in 1988 and also with Désirée in 1996 designing products, showrooms and Italian and international fair exhibitions.
In 1999 he designed the Euromobil Group headquarter’s forum and its new company showroom.
In 2000 he took part in the “Essere Ben Essere” exhibition, organized by Interni magazine inside the Triennale of Milan with a project concerning the “cucina convivio”.
The same year he created an installation entitled “La sala Telematica” for Abitare il Tempo in Verona; both projects were developed with Euromobil.
One of his projects was selected for I.DoT – Italian Design on Tour 2004/2005 – an itinerant exhibition of the most representative products in the contemporary Italian design scene – first stage in New York, Chelsea Art Museum – May 2004. In 2007 and 2009 he designed the preparations for two major retrospective exhibitions on the work of the artist Carmelo Zotti edited respectively by Philippe Daverio and Brigitte Brand, the first held at Esprit Nouveau Pavilion in Bologna and the second at Museo Correr in Venice.
Since 2007 until 2018 he thaught up for Euromobil Group the installation "I luoghi dell’arte i luoghi del design" at ArteFiera, an international exhibition of contemporary art that takes place every year in January in Bologna. In April 2013 he took part in the exhibition "Around the world" promoted by RCS MediaGroup at the Triennale of Milan. A number of his texts have been published in prestigious architecture and design magazines in addition to written and television interviews, among others on SKY Television.
He has lectured on design at IUAV Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia - Industrial Design and at LAU Lebanese American University- School of Architecture and Design in Beirut, this one in 2014. In 2015 his project RG/RM Residence was selected as one of the Best on Archilovers 2015.
In 2016 and 2019 he was invited to give a speech at INTERIOR MEBEL – Kiev and at the General Assembly of AMC Asociacion de Mobiliario de Cocina – Valencia.
